THE ORIGINAL WATER-RESISTANT PICC LINE COVER & SLEEVE
When Michele was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in 2004, it was exactly one month before her daughter, Tasha, was leaving for her freshman year of college. After a month of doctor visits, multiple trips to various specialty treatment centers, and many tears, Michele found herself in Santa Barbara, CA at Cottage Hospital with Dr. Gupta--a miracle worker who, in exactly 9 months, would put Michele on the road to recover. And, 7 years later, still cancer free!!
Throughout Michele's journey, the artist and graphic designer, rarely hid. Between the weekly chemotherapy treatments, Michele found herself daydreaming about life before cancer. The simplest daily activities like taking a shower and going to the grocery store were now monumental achievements she shared with fellow patients in the oncology department of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. On her stronger days, Michele worked on her "sleeve" prototype. The one that would allow her to do seemingly normal activities such as showering, without facing the unsightly and bulky picc line attached to her arm.
